隨著在“美國小姐”比賽中奪冠，百老匯明日之星勞倫·尼爾森今后參加活動(dòng)的出場費(fèi)也將水漲船高。據(jù)報(bào)道，剛剛評選出的“美國小姐”勞倫·尼爾森除了將獲得5萬美元獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金外，預(yù)計(jì)將在2007年獲得超過10萬美元的出場費(fèi)。

報(bào)道中的“appearance fee”指的就是“出場費(fèi)”?！癆ppearance”表示“出場、露面”時(shí)，常和動(dòng)詞make搭配，如：to make
one's first appearance in public（首次公開露面）。
此外，“appearance”也可表示“體面、門面”，如：for appearances' sake（為了保持體面）、to keep up
appearances（保持體面）。
看個(gè)例子：He earned enormous sums of money and got an appearance fee of ￡100 for a
single appearance. （他掙了很多錢，一次出場費(fèi)就高達(dá)100英鎊。）
