"Professor" Jackie Chan receives new academic title ( 2004-01-29 13:43) (Xinhua) Tonight will be a big one for
Jackie Chan.
The veteran actor will be conferred with yet another prestigious title — an
honorary professorship from Hong Kong Polytechnic University’s School of Hotel
and Tourism Management.
This will be his second degree, after receiving a lifetime honorary social
science doctorate from Hong Kong Baptist University in 1996.
His new honor (which only lasts three years) doesn’t come for nothing,
however. Chan will have to spend some time in the classroom doing guest
lectures.
He already has some experience, though. In October he appeared before a
classroom of students from PolyU’s communications and public affairs department
and answered questions. He also spoke heatedly about how Hong Kong people must
be more patriotic to their city.
