Moments of peace, eternity as painter's journey explored
The pale walls — painted light yellow, milky white and gray — arched windows, and vintage chairs and cabinets at Tang Contemporary Art's two spaces in the 798 art zone create an atmosphere of quiet and peace, the same feelings delivered by the drawings and oil paintings on display.
With neat, delicate brushwork, Pang Maokun orchestrates a presentation of the beauty of solemnity at his ongoing exhibition, The Scale of Classic.
Curated by Cui Cancan, it investigates the evolution of Pang's journey as a painter over the last four decades.
From the portraits for which the artist is well known, to the landscapes in which he reveals more of his inner world, the exhibition accords with the impression Pang has created that he is a lover of the tradition of classicism.
In his refined strokes and orderly compositions, he addresses the emotions and ideas of urban dwellers.
The show runs until Feb 15.
