Luanchuan Impression, a regional brand created by the Luanchuan county government in Henan province, has effectively increased the value of the county's agricultural products and farmers' income.

Since its establishment seven years ago, 150 specialty agricultural products across four categories have been developed under the brand, according to Wu Dongge, deputy general manager of Luoyang Chuanyu Agricultural Development, the brand's operator.

"Taking persimmon as an example, we have developed seven high-value-added products under the brand using the local specialty, such as persimmon vinegar and persimmon essence cream," she said.

Wu said that the price of the locally produced persimmons has increased year by year thanks to the brand's development, from only 0.3 yuan ($0.04) per kilogram several years ago to 6 yuan per kg this year.

Wei Yifeng, deputy director of the county's agriculture and rural affairs bureau, said the brand's development had raised the market value of the county's agricultural products, generated job opportunities and boosted the development of the local tourism industry.

He said the brand has 13 member enterprises and 23 processing lines, forming several industrial bases for characteristic agricultural products. It has directly or indirectly led to an increase in income for 20,000 rural households.
