China follows and monitors German vessels passing through Taiwan Strait
The Eastern Theater Command of the People's Liberation Army mobilized its air and naval forces to monitor two German warships as they passed through the Taiwan Strait on Friday, as reported by the command's spokesman.
Senior Captain Li Xi said in a brief statement on Saturday that the German frigate Baden-Württemberg and the supply ship Frankfurt am Main transited through the strait — an act that was sensationalized by Germany.
Aircraft and naval ships of the PLA Eastern Theater Command were on alert as they closely monitored the passing ships, as the spokesman informed while condemning Germany for increasing security risks and sending the wrong messages to related parties.
The spokesman said his command is ready to respond to any provocation or threat.
