BAK Battery has announced the mass production of its N21700CH-58E high-capacity battery, through which it hopes to expand in the small-size power-battery market despite potential excess capacity risks.

Coming right after an earlier announcement of the mass production of its 21700-5.5Ah battery cell, the latest production plan serves as another challenge to the already ample battery market supply.

"In the face of overcapacity resulting from the industry's rapid growth, it is important that product breakthroughs and technologies can take a step ahead of market demand," said Li Fengmei, vice-president of the Shenzhen, Guangdong province-based company, who added that improving product attractiveness to customers is a must-do in the company's development.

Adopting high-nickel cathode and silicon anode technology, the N21700CH-58E cell allows discharging in a wide temperature range, from -20 C to 70 C, which enables its regular use in extreme environments.

Passing harsh tests such as over-charging, over-discharging, short-circuiting, dropping, heating, vibration, and extrusion, the battery should work in diverse scenarios that require high battery capacity, including electric scooters, robot vacuums, smart speakers, robots, and other smart appliances.

By steadily investing innovation and R&D in four key materials – cathode, anode, separator, and electrolyte – and structural design, the 21700 battery series features high energy density, long cycle lifetime, high C-rate, fast charging, strong temperature adaptability, and high safety level, the company said, and has earned it a leading position in its field.
