"We have seen a lot of interesting content on Douyin, but it seems that it is little high-quality content related to the elderly," said Qiao Yihao, director of the Yangpu Community Nursing Home.

"Since many of the elderly in our nursing home are very expressive and creative, we hoped to showcase their life in the form of short videos and change stereotypes of the elderly in nursing homes."

Qiao added that many residents of the nursing home know how to use Douyin and have been recording videos of themselves dancing and singing.
