6 dead in residential high-rise fire
Six people were killed in a building fire in Guzhen township, Zhongshan, Guangdong province, on Sunday, the local government said. At 2:03 am on Sunday, the local fire department received a report that a fire had broken out in a high-rise residential building on Jinnan Road. The fire was put out around 3 am. Zhongshan's publicity department said the six who died were members of one family.

11 rescued, 7 missing after fishing boat sinks
Eleven people were rescued and seven people are missing after a fishing boat sank off Zhoushan, Zhejiang province, local authorities said on Sunday. The province's Agriculture and Rural Affairs Department said the fishing boat sank about 180 nautical miles east of Zhoushan at around 8 pm on Saturday. By Sunday night, 11 people had been rescued but seven were still missing. Twenty-six vessels have been sent to the area to take part in the search and rescue effort.

Center issues orange alert for thick fog
The National Meteorological Center on Sunday issued an orange alert, the second-most severe in a four-tier system, for thick fog that shrouded parts of the country on Sunday and will continue to do so on Monday. Thick fog will envelop parts of the provinces of Hebei, Shandong, Henan, Anhui, Jiangsu and Hubei, according to the forecast. Visibility in these areas will be generally less than 200 meters, and thick fog will reduce visibility to less than 50 meters in some parts. The center suggests drivers in affected regions slow down and that airports, expressways and ports take appropriate safety measures.
