The Cultural Ministers’ Forum of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation opened in Beijing this June. Cultural ministers and delegates from 44 African countries joined their Chinese counterpart under one roof, discussing the plan for future cooperation and development. The forum has reached a broad consensus that will guide the cultural communication and cooperation between China and Africa.

Culture is an important spiritual link that connects the world. It bridges different countries and different people, building trust and improving understanding of each other. It is the energy that will deepen the development of Sino-African relationship.

Two countries will befriend if their people are close to each other; and people will become close if they can communicate with each other.

Since its founding in 1981, China Daily has come to be a window into China for the world. I believe this new weekly will give African people a comprehensive and reliable guide to China.
